Atwood Homestead Golf Course Addtional Information & History

Atwood Homestead Golf Course: Constructed on land in Rockford, Illinois that was donated by Seth B. Atwood, Atwood Homestead is an 18-hole, regulation length, municipal golf course. The course was designed by Charles Maddox and opened in 1971. The original, large stone family homestead was remodeled and now serves as the Atwood Homestead Golf Course facility’s Pro Shop and Clubhouse. A par 72, championship layout golf course, Atwood Homestead’s 18 holes include 4 par 5, 10 par 4, and 4 par 3 holes, offering golfers a variety of alternatives and approaches. The course is one of three 18-hole courses managed by the Forest Preserve District, open to the public from April through October.
