Atwood Homestead Golf Course: Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Rockford, Illinois, Atwood Homestead is a beautifully designed 18-hole, regulation length, municipal golf course. Constructed on land generously donated by Seth B. Atwood, the course was thoughtfully crafted by renowned architect Charles Maddox and opened its doors in 1971.
The historic, large stone family homestead has been meticulously remodeled and now serves as the Atwood Homestead Golf Course facility's Pro Shop and Clubhouse, providing a unique and welcoming atmosphere for golfers to gather and relax.
As a par 72, championship layout golf course, Atwood Homestead presents a diverse range of challenges for players, with its 18 holes consisting of 4 par 5, 10 par 4, and 4 par 3 holes. This engaging configuration offers golfers a variety of strategic alternatives and approaches to keep each round fresh and exciting.
Managed by the Forest Preserve District, Atwood Homestead is one of three 18-hole courses open to the public from April through October. The course's serene, natural setting and well-maintained fairways and greens make it an ideal destination for golfers of all skill levels.
