Blackthorn Addtional Information & History

The 18-hole Blackthorn course at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Indiana is located on a rolling, naturally contoured, heavily wooded 226-acre site. The par 72, 7136-yard layout offers four sets of tees providing a strategic test for golfers of all abilities. The practice facility at Blackthorn Golf Club consists of two acres of Bent grass tees, realistic target greens and a short game area for putting, chipping and bunker play. 
 The course rating is 75.2 and it has a slope rating of 135 on Bent grass.  Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA, the Blackthorn golf course opened in 1994. The clubhouse sits on broad fairways framed by 94 bunkers, ponds, wetlands, and prairie grasses. Blackthorn Golf Club amenities include the popular Blarney Grill and a golf shop. Blackthorn Golf Club is owned by the city of South Bend.
