Bull Valley Golf Course Addtional Information & History

When Vignocchi and Associates acquired this 500-acre site southwest of McHenry, an important decision was made. Unlike other developments, all initial efforts would be directed to building the 18-hole course. Housing sites were to be allocated later. With this creative flexibility at hand, course architect Dick Nugent designed a championship-style 7,228-yard layout. Built on unusually hilly terrain, the 172-acre course weaves through natural wetlands and balanced preserves of mature oak and hickory trees. Already established as one of the regions top challenges, the back-tee course rating is a sobering 75.9. Even the shorter tees of 6,228 yards play to a 72.3 rating. The first phase of housing has begun. Plans include 177 single-family homes built on lots from 3/4-acre to a full acre. Prices per lot were quoted in the range of $60,000 to $155,000, Additional building phases will include townhouses. Bull Valleyˇ Club membership at one time included provisions for nonresident eligibility. Resident and corporate memberships are also available though the course is three years old, it was not until 1990 that the club's 37,000 square foot clubhouse opened.
