Cog HIll #1 was an enjoyable course. Not a bad price during the week in the offseason. Service at Cog HIll was disappointing. Expected to have better service than you would receive at a city course but was not the case. They should represent themselves accordingly seeing as they host a PGA event. |

Pretty slow the day I played, but the course was in good condition, except for the greens that had just been aerated. Nice old course with a few challenging holes, but generally is wide enough for all to enjoy. Most greens slope from back to front. I would like to return and play #3 |

#1 course is good for the high handicapper looking for a Big Name course with few challenges. Mostly Harmless comes to mind of this course. Only thing good is the speed of the greens and hole placement. The are too many tee times available and long waits on the tees. Really unimpressed with the courses condition and for a few less dollars Indiana and other Illinois courses offer more challenge and beauty. Just good to say I played it. |

Course is usually in really nice shape, but is quite boring. |

Pack a lunch! Six and half hours on sunday. I think the front office is getting greedy on tee times. |

Cog Hill is the best public golf facility I know of, you have to appreciate what these courses mean to the history of Chicago golf, there is a course here that will meet your skill level. What a place, I love it!!! Spend a few buck once a year and play DUBSDREAD. |

Of the two budget courses, #1 is the least challenging and least memorable. Play #3 instead. |

Cog Hill no.1 Addtional Information & History
Cog Hill Golf and Country Club: Course #1: Originally built in by three brothers: John W., Martin J., and Bert Coghill, Cog Hill Course #1 was designed by David McIntosh and opened in 1927. The brothers also constructed a spacious, beautiful clubhouse, complete with a large dining room and adjoining sitting room, each with an impressive stone fireplace. The clubhouse originally included 14 guest rooms for golfers seeking weekend vacations. Outside the clubhouse, they erected a children’s playground, with a caretaker in attendance. The 18-hole golf course features a challenging, but not overwhelming layout, routed through a gently rolling, wooded site. The holes are diverse, offering a blend of difficulty and requiring a varying range of shot-making ability, on sloping, elevated greens. Cog Hill #1 offers enough water hazards, sand and trees to challenge experienced players, but is forgiving enough to be a fine beginning golfer’s choice.
