The 2,753, par 35 layout is a popular choice for golfers on the near West Side. The golf course style is known for wide open fairways and receptive greens. It is ideally if your a beginner on golf. $24 during weekend on Green Fees is not bad. |

I love this course. I grew up playing here in the 60_s for 50 cents. I now live in Minnesota and have not played it in years....but it always will hold a special place in my heart. We used to play tackle football for years behind the 3rd teebox. It looks like it_s now full of trees there. Later in the evening, we_d sneak on at the 2nd hole by the bus stop. On the 5th hole, the kids would run down off _Devils Path_ and steal our golf balls. We_d chase them. It was great. Good old Columbus Park. I sure miss it. |

Pretty fun course...great for beginners...nice open fairways...greens could be better kept |

Fairways were divot ridden and almost impossible to get a lie in that had grass under the ball. The greens were in even worse shape having about half the greens being just a bare sand/clay mix. Where there was grass on the greens it was roungh and seemed to be basically unmaintained for a couple of weeks. Wouldn_t even suggest this course be played even for pure beginers. |

Between the incredibly rude starter, the ridiculously slow play, the soccer-field like fairways, and the HORNETS NESTS in the sand traps, this was, by far, the worst course I have ever seen. Other CPD courses, such as Black, are maintained much better, and are a much better value for the money. Inexpensive or not, this course is not worth the time. Run, do not walk away from this course! |

The course was a good value for the money! Not too challenging but fun to get a quick 9 holes in. Would recommend for anybody that lives close and just wants to go out and have a good time on the links! |

This is an excellent course for beginners the holes are very straight forward and there are few hazards. The pace of play is fast…Probably due to the wide open lay out (hard to lose balls). |

This course is the city's best kept secret. The grounds are kept in excellent condition. The greens are smooth (though usually wet and slow). You can usually just walk up at any time, pay and play... just like that: no tee time reservations, check-in's NONE OF THAT. Tee's and cup location(s) are changed on a regular basis to keep it interesting too. Fairways are mostly large and good for beginners and play is swift. I'm posting this because there were no other comments and I thought the course deserved at least one. Hopefully this favorable review/comment won't attract too many "new folks" otherwise this park district course might end up overbooked, slow, chopped up, etc. like some of the others. Anyway, it's a good spot to get in a quick 9 holes. |
