Gleneagles Country Club: Gleneagles Country Club in Chicagoland’s Lemont, Illinois is home to two championship golf courses—one called the “Red” or “Lakes” course and the other known as the “White” or “Woodlands” course. The 18-hole Red/Lake Course at the Gleneagles Country Club facility features 6,140 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 67.6 and it has a slope rating of 112 on Bent grass. Designed by Charles Maddox and Frank P. MacDonald, the Red/Lake Course opened in 1924. The 18-hole White/Woodlands course at the Gleneagles Country Club features 6,120 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course rating is 68.7 and it has a slope rating of 116 on Bent grass. Also designed by Charles Maddox/Frank P. MacDonald, the White/Woodlands golf course opened in 1926. Both the Red and White golf courses are considered “traditional” courses. Gleneagles is known as the “home of the shotgun start,” as the Gleneagles Country Club offers a unique opportunity to host a 288-player shotgun outing.
