The golf center is quite expensive but still today they are the chosen as the sites for The Open Championship, the oldest major championship in golf. Harborside is one of the best that Chicago has to offer in golf. A breathtaking experience especially the views of the closing holes of both courses. |

Started off bachelor party at this course. Was surprised how challenging the layout was given the links style. Very well manicured, well maintained. Beautiful skyline views. |

quite expensive but a very high class course to play on if you are a better player because of cost unless you_re well off with money.the pratice area is tops like a pga tour one.i pratice there all the time but will start playing there when my games gets to single digits handicap. |

Nice course but far too expensive, particulary in the Spring because they offer no spring rates. It shouldnt cost $95 to play in March when there are 3 people on the entire course and they have just punched the greens. I think they need an economic lesson on supply and demand. Wait until summer to play. |

Overrated course and expensive for the product. Bunkers look nice but only have about an inch of sand before you hit what feels like rock (don_t dig deep). There are a few nice holes but the scenery isn_t the best. Pace of play slow - 5 hours in the middle of the week. And yes, the staff isn_t the nicest either. Summary - there are much better courses around for cheaper. |

Want to stress that this is a GREAT course for women, as well as men. I play to a 16 handicap, and have played here with friends whose handicaps run from 8 to 30, and all of us LOVE it. The tees you play from determine some of the challenge level, and the great layout takes care of the rest. You can see all the trouble, so it_s therefore up to you to avoid it! For the budget-minded, twilight golf rates are available, and the practice area is FANTASTIC. |

When I posted my first comment, I forgot to give it my _rating._ This is a 5-star course in my opinion! |

Played both courses and had a great time. Courses: Both are fun, challenging courses. I noticed the Port Course was in better shape than the Starboard Course. Layout(s): Links style. These courses reward the smart golfer, simply stated - hit an iron off some tee's. Greens were tricky but fun. Any handicap will have fun here, 'nuff said. Complaints: Bunkers: Could've been better, but they were working on them. Divot Sand/Seed: Took a divot on the first hole and the Sand/Seed mix was empty. I filled it on the next hole, but you could see that others didn't bother. Noticed more un-repaired divots on the Starboard course. That's it complaint wise. Staff: Friendly & polite. The Rangers were nice & there was plenty of them. Pace for 18 was 4 hours. People: I went as a single and met some of the nicest people. I had a great time! If you're a single, trust me, you will play with & meet some great people. Don't give it a second thought. Overall: Can't wait to go back to Chicago & play Harborside. I'd lean toward the Port Course, but I'd like some revenge on the Starboard Course as well. |

I simply do not understand the hype surrounding this course. It is not a good value at all, the scenery is horrible(unless you like smokestacks)and the staff are arrogant jerks. If you want a links-style course go to Odyssey. |

Fantastic course and worth every penny. Friendly staff and plenty of rangers around to discourage slow play. One of the best in Chicago! |

This may be the most bang for your buck in the area. Simply unrelenting from the tips, and if the wind gets gusty, ugly numbers will litter the card. Excellent practice facility, two great courses, superior greens. Harborside is a sleeper. 87.00 on the weekend may be a bargain. |

Great layout. Thoughtful precision and length is a requisite. Wouldn't play when very windy, but it always is windy. |

I am a high handicaper (16) and I am here to say that I'd waste my money again and again because I can't believe the course whips me every round. I'd like to see a PGA event here. Ask Hale Irvin how tough it is. |

It looks like everyone has it figured out, the only problem I have with the Chris S. comment is that I heard his round was five hours but he was the only one on the course. This is a smart man's Whistling Straights. |

I played this course in september a few years ago. Wind had to be at 25 to 30 miles per hour. played all 36 and enjoyed each and every fairway, bunker and gunch. At the time i payed $100 for the round, and felt that I had one of the best golfing experiences of my life. True golf, real elements with consequences. Oh yeah, I shot 94/89 port /star respectively. I'm finally going back ina few weeks and expect to have my lunch eaten for me again. Oh yeah |

The best course in chicago by far, 5 hour round well its worth it have played alot of 5 hour rounds in chicago for more money (Catiniy, Ruffled Feathers, Cog Hill all 4 of them and Big Run) for the price you cant beat it. Way to go harborside nice job!!!!!!!! |

The actual grass on the course was in good shape but some holes were under construction. Bulldozers and plastic in bunkers for $90 was not my idea of money well spent. Call ahead about this before heading out. Overall I think this course is woefully overrated. |

I was first paying customer on "starboard" course and feel that these two courses have some of the best golf anywhere! However, just heard that prices are going up in 2002. I think this is a huge mistake!!!!!! |

This is a beautiful links style golf course and well worth playing. I loved every hole. |
Golfer: Weekend golfer Date: 2002-02-06 Rating: |
Beautifully manicured links course. Challenging with lots of bunkers. Extremely difficult on a windy day. But well worth it. One of the best (if not THE best) in Chicago. |

Not worth the money or the wait. A five hour round awaits you. |

Wow, what a great course, well worth the money if you are a serious weekend golfer! Very challenging and great service. Even made ME feel like a Pro. |
Golfer: Brendan Date: 2002-02-06 Rating: |
VERY challenging links course, tons of sand and the thatch grass will swallow your ball. High-handicappers are wasting their time and money here. |

Great service, fantastic shape and very difficult. Ranks in the top 3 courses in Chicago. Expect to add 8 strokes to your handicap. |

Excellent! A real bargain at $75. Immaculate condition and great layout. Only 1 hole there that I don't like. I'm not sure which coure I enjoy best but fine great similarities between the two. Front 9's pretty good. Back 9's terrific. |

Apparently Chris needs some professional help. Obviously one of the best courses in the Chicagoland area. Bring your A game. My hats off to the Harborside crew -just a great course & experience. |

This is a fantastic course - holds true to the links style. Beautiful views and in pristine condition. Best in Chicagoland... definitely worth the money |
Harborside International Golf Addtional Information & History
Harborside International Golf Center: These two 18-hole golf courses, located 16 minutes from downtown Chicago, were designed by Dick Nugent. Both the Port and Starboard courses offer championship-style links to the public. Sculpted fairways and well-manicured greens, combined with deep sand bunkers and water make for a challenging game of golf. That, combined with spectacular views of the Chicago skyline, makes Harborside International Golf Center a popular choice for local and visiting golf enthusiasts. The Center’s signature hole 15, on the Port Course, is a 216-yard, par 3 in the shape of an anchor. Two par 3 holes on the Starboard Course are hit over water. The Harborside golf facility includes a 24,000-square-foot clubhouse, available for banquets. Other amenities include a top-notch, 57-acre Bent grass practice facility and a golf shop. Individual lessons from PGA instructors are available.
