The course was added to the Cook County Forest Commission in 1931, and its construction contract included a clause that required building contractors to work at their own expense if construction went beyond 90 days. Amazingly, the course was completed within 90 days of work beginning. In addition to the original 18 holes, the county introduced a new nine-hole course, which had actually been the third nine of Edgebrook's 27-hole site.
