The golf course at Midlothian Country Club was established by R. Thorne, John G. Shedd, R.H. Donnelley and other Chicago business leaders. Midlothian offers 6,661 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course has a rating of 132 on Bent grass.  Midlothian was designed by H.J. Tweedie/(R) Ken Killian, ASGCA/Richard P. Nugent, ASGCA, and opened in 1898. The club hosted the 1914 U.S. Open.
