Old, classic course with tree lined fairways. Both courses challenging-North is pretty long and South requires you to be very accurate off of tee.Shape of course is consistently above average. For what they offer, prices are fair(twilight is a great bargain @31.00)Rounds do tend to take a little bit longer than usual, but not over the top.Owner and staff are extremely friendly and very accomodating. |

Some of the above comments must be quite old. The greenskeeper has done a great job with upgrading the condition of both courses. The South Course has been reseeded twice with bent grass and the approaches to the par 3_s have been sodded with bent grass. Tough track from the blue tees. The North Course fairways have been cut to a good playable length. The rough on both courses is a little too long. As far as the greens go, I think it should depend on the weather; the hotter and drier it is the longer the greens have to be to protect them especially if you host a lot of outings which Silver Lake does. I do agree play is too slow; maybe 10 minute tee times would help and more enforcement from rangers. Great people, great food and great club house. It is one of the better conditioned courses in the area. |

Silver Lake is a wonderful course. Everyone always appears to be enjoying their round of golf, including me. Everytime I have played here the golf is quite steady, i have never had to play a 5.5 hour game. The guys below have to be exaggerating. The workers are always extra friendly which provides a wonderful atmosphere for us golfers. I_d recommed golfing here! :) |

I have probably played this course more than most people since I grew up about a mile from the course. I do have to say that the comments about the conditions are fairly accurate. The fairways suck because they are simply too long. The rough can be challenging if it is wet. If not, it tends to harden up. This course is not worth the trip if you don_t live close. However, the comments about the prices may be off because overall they are fairly reasonable in comparison to courses in the area. I always golf twilight and it_s like 17 bucks on weekdays, with a jump to about 26 on weekends (don_t know the exact figures). Of course that does not include cart. The comments about the slow pace of play don_t really apply in the afternoon, but sometimes it can get slow. Normally when I play there I start at 3 and am able to get in 25 holes by 8:30, so the comments about 6 hour rounds aren_t entirely accurate. Perhaps it_s slower in the earlier hours, I don_t know, because it does look kind of packed when I drive by. |

This is an ok course. Lots of par 4's and 5's. It's a tuff shot out of the ruff. When I played at the course the greens were fast. The course doesn't drain very well so try to avoid it after a rain. |

This coures gets play by accidently being in the right place. It keeps the "joe duffer" out of my way. Greens have acne from ball marks & everything is slow about this place. Very overpriced. |

Decent Course. Great yardage markings. Slow play to be expected on the weekends (5-5&1/2 hours). Reasonable price, but somewhat shaggy conditions (long grass in fairways, very slow greens, etc.) |

All the courses at Silver Lakes are SLOW! They don't marshall tee times well at all, and I have often approached the third tee on the south course (par 3) to find 3, 4 even 5 groups backed up. Expect a slow round. |

south course way too crowded and over-priced |

This course is way too slow. The people in front of us took a half an hour on the first hole and the marshall didn't do anything. Expect a 5.5 hour round. |

Silver Lake Country Club North Course Addtional Information & History
Silver Lake Country Club, North Course: Located in Orland Park, Illinois, the 18-hole championship North Golf Course at the Silver Lake Country Club began as Euclid Hills—a private club which opened in 1927. The course was renamed in 1940 when it was purchased by the Coghill family. Many improvements have been made over the years, including rebuilding and elevating all of the tees and greens. A state-of-the-art irrigation system was recently installed, and new cart paths make it easier for golfers to play during less than ideal weather conditions. Silver Lake Country Club is also well into a continuous tree-planting program. Over the past 25 years, they have planted thousands of trees, and have contributed to the Silver Lake Country Club being honored by the National Audubon Society by being awarded “Best of Environmental Golf Award. Silver Lake’s North Course offers 6,826 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.1 with a slope rating of 119 on Blue grass.
