Overpriced and slow. Fairways not in good shape. Greens OK, but seems like nobody fixes their ball marks on any of these greens. Much better choices in the area than this place. |

Very well maintained course that has a challenging and ineresting design. I agree with the other comments about the rangers being way over the top in trying to speed up play. We were constantly hassled by the ranger for what ended up being a 4 1/2 hour round pace. The supervisor actually asked us to skip a couple holes even though we were not being pushed at all by the group behind us. What a crock. I would think in this economy that they would not want to turn off any golfers. I would play this course again, but only on a slow day. |

Nice course but unable to enjoy because of constant hassle from rangers for slow play, the mayor must have been in the group behind us. We finished in 4 1/2 hrs. Wont go back! |

Excellent layout, but the people who run it should be fired. On a beautiful day our start time was 40 minutes behind. When we asked why they said _No reason we_re just slow_. It_s impossible to play a round in under 5 hours there. The rangers don_t care. Won_t be going back. |

Won_t ever go back. Last 3 times I visited there_s a back up on the tee and it takes almost 6 hours to golf. The management company just wants to jam as many people on the course as they can. |

The greens here leave no place for reasonable pin placement. My regular group has gone weeks without a birdie. The layout and pacing combine for frequent backups on the 3rd hole. One week there were 5 groups bottle necked there and ranger had the gall to blame a back, up-wind flag location. I played here long ago and had fond memories but after this summer_s experience with our permanent Saturday slot I will not be going back. It has become just a long, joyless course lacking in any real beauty. |

The course was great, but they need to get smart and book less tee times. I played there last weekend and we started 45 minutes later than our tee time and the round took us 5 1/2 hours. It was ridiculously slow, but a nice course. |

Absolutely worth the money...excellent course with challenging holes and a knowledgeable staff. I recommend playing afternoon specials for value. A lake in 18th fairway? Seriously? |

Newly renovated at a cost of $5 million, this outstanding 18 hole course has become one of the "must play" tracks in Chicago. Greens are in far better condition and are more interesting than before. The course plays longer, has fewer trees, and bunkers have been added. Aesthetically, its not a $5 million renovation (play Cantigny 10 minutes west if you want the total experience) ... more like $2 million, but for challenge and quality at a fair price, the Village Links is back near the top. |

The best Park District run course I've ever played. The course has a very nice layout. |

Very challenging layout and long from the tips! The staff is very nice, but the rangers weren't around to speed up play. |

I rate this above average for the course. My buddys and I play here a couple times each summer. We have a love/hate releationship with this course. It is a fun layout and well maintained, but I agree that the rangers often don't do enough to speed play. In addition, if you insist on riding, this course is one of the quickest to ban riding carts after a rain (it apparently doesn't drain well) - so be advised. On one occassion, unbeknownst to us, they booked our foursome as the last one ahead of a club tournament. And, they didn't leave much time in between. The players in the tournament were playing in twosomes so it didn't take long before we were holding up the entire tournament. There were a lot of tournament spectators gathered at each hole as we arrived. You would not believe the verbal abuse they gave us because they felt we were somehow to blame for holding up their tournament (when in fact it was a problem created by the course). We ended up quiting early. We didn't get much sympathy from the folks in the clubhouse either. This was the single worst expecience I have ever had playing golf (over 20 years)! jas |
